Hello everyone,

We have some fantastic updates as we head into summer—including the successful launch of our new Thursday sessions and a packed social calendar.

However, before we look at the dates, we need your help with a critical club milestone. To secure our two club London Marathon places for next year, we must have over 190 first-claim members registered. We currently only have 143 renewals, and the hard deadline is 30 June 2026.

Please take a look at the exciting events coming up below, and make sure to read to the bottom to check your eligibility for our 2027 club marathon ballot and renew your membership today!

Here is what is coming up at FRC over the next few months:

⏱️ New Thursday Tempo Sessions & Monthly Social!

Thanks to everyone who attended the launch of our new Thursday Tempo sessions! We’ve introduced these to add more training options alongside our traditional social runs.

  • The Session: Meet at Fulham Pier at 6:45pm on Thursdays for a 2km warm-up jog over Putney Bridge and down Deodar Road to Wandsworth Park, where we split into various pace groups.

  • Something for Everyone: Our usual social runs (two and three bridges) continue at the exact same time every week.

  • Volunteers & Feedback: We’d love your feedback as we get this off the ground! If you can volunteer to help out, please add yourself to the session spreadsheet here.

  • Monthly Social: Next Thursday, we will be hosting our monthly social at Fulham Pier right after the runs! Come along for a drink and a catch-up.

🏃‍♂️ Barn Elms Time Trial & Social Beer Mile (Tuesday, 7th July 2026)

Instead of our usual Tuesday intervals, we will be hosting a free mile time trial followed by a social beer mile (sponsored by Primetime Beer Co.) at Barn Elms Track! This is the perfect way to get into the spirit ahead of the upcoming Battersea Relays.

  • The Perks: Primetime will be bringing a DJ, and they offer both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beer options (which are also gluten-free!).

  • Details: Key information will follow shortly on Facebook, WhatsApp, and here on the club website.

🎟️ Battersea Mile Relays (Tuesday, 21st July 2026 @ 7:00pm)

A quick reminder that the Battersea Mile Relays are coming up in Battersea Park. Last year we had over 90 entrants, and this year we are hoping to smash that and get over 100 runners on the start line!

  • Club Subsidy: If you are an EA member and sign up via the club website, the club will contribute £3 towards your entrance fee as a thank you for taking part.

🏆 FRC Sports Day (Sunday, 16th August 2026)

Think back to your high school sports day! We will be renting out Barn Elms Track for an afternoon of fun, nostalgic activities. More information will follow soon via Facebook and right here on the website.

⏱️ FRC Stagger: Summer Edition (September – Date TBC)

After a brief pause, the famous Fulham Running Club Stagger will be making its grand return this September! This is a fantastic way to test yourself and compete with your fellow clubmates. Please note that you will need to be an EA member to take part, and we will be celebrating the evening with a club social at Fulham Pier afterwards.

🚨 ACTION REQUIRED: EA Membership Renewals (Deadline: 30 June 2026)

To help us hit our 190-member target, secure our two marathon spots, and ensure you remain eligible for the club ballot (and the upcoming Stagger!), please renew your membership as soon as possible via the EA membership section of the club site.

📋 London Marathon Club Ballot: Are You Eligible?

Want to enter the club draw at the Christmas party for a 2027 London Marathon place? Here is a quick checklist of what you need to achieve in 2026:

  • Volunteer 4+ times for FRC (more volunteering = more ballot entries).

  • Race 3 times representing FRC (excluding parkrun, verifiable on runbritain/Power of 10).

  • Be a First Claim member by the 30th June 2026 deadline.

  • Provide proof of rejection from the main 2027 London Marathon ballot or GFA.

  • You are ineligible if you won an FRC club place in 2025 or 2026, or are applying for a Championship place.

The deadline to submit your application to me is Monday 1 December 2026.

Best regards,

Ed Bruce

Club Secretary, on behalf of the Fulham Running Club ExCo
