October to February

Cross Country

Our cross-country (XC) team is a big part of FRC, and we love it because it's fun, affordable, and a great way to get fit.

We compete in the Surrey League from mid-October to February, and we also send teams to the annual relays, London, Southern, and the National Championships.

Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned runner, we have a place for you on our XC team. We offer a variety of training sessions to help you improve your skills, and we're always happy to welcome new members.

XC Captains: Andrew Bovell, Hannah Cox, Katie Gow, Trevor Ingram

Boaty McBoatrace

The Boaty McBoat Race is a 10-mile race along the route of the University Boat Race to Chiswick Bridge and back. It's a great challenge for runners of all levels, and it's always a lot of fun.

The race is free to enter, and registration opens in the early summer.

Spring & Autumn Stagger

The Stagger is a handicap run that takes place twice a year. It's a great way to test your fitness against other runners, and it's always a lot of fun. The race is 4 miles long, and it starts and finishes on Stevenage Road.

FRC organisers: Gabriel Glencross, Chris Shaw and Juliette Braithwaite

May to June

Wimbledon Trail Series

The Wimbledon Trail Series is a series of three races that are held on Wimbledon Common every summer. It's a great way to experience some of the best trails in London, and it's always a lot of fun.

The series is very popular with our members, and we typically have 50-60 people racing.

March to November

Sri Chimnoy Series

The Sri Chinmoy marathon team host a series of UK Athletics certified 5k, 10k and relay races throughout the year in Battersea Park.

The courses are really fast and flat (great for those PBs), the entry is super affordable, and it's a great opportunity to get together and have a wee smidge of competitive fun.

May to October

Surrey Road League

The Surrey Road League is a great opportunity for members of our club to compete in a series of local running events.

The league consists of 8 races of varied distances, and the overall winner is the club that scores the most points. We've had a lot of success in the Surrey Road League in recent years, and we're always looking for new members to join our team.

The SS5 is a 5-mile race that's run on the second Sunday of every month.

It's a great value race that's organised by another local club, Thames Hare & Hounds. The race is held on Wimbledon Common, and there are free drinks and snacks in the clubhouse afterwards.

Last Friday of the Month

The Last Friday of the Month (LFOTM for those in the know) is a lunch time road race over a fun, fast(ish), two lap, undulating course in Hyde Park. It takes place on, well, the last Friday of the Month.

Entry in advance at least two weeks before the race date is recommended. See the Serpentine LFOTM page for more details.

Trail running

Trail running is a great way to head outdoors and challenge yourself to a different type of run/race.

We have a range of trail runners that undertake a lot of challenging runs throughout the year - whether it's in summer in the Alps, or closer to home in the cold - you can expect to hear words like "undulating" thrown about.

If you like the idea of running and eating a lot of snacks along the way, trail running might be for you!
