On Saturday 21 September Fulham Running Club marked a significant milestone: its 20th birthday.
parkrun takeover: A record-breaking day
The day began with a parkrun takeover at Fulham Palace, where a record number of volunteers gathered to celebrate this special occasion and showcase the club's strong community spirit. It was lovely to see so many black and white stripes in the park!
A night of celebration: 20 years of Fulham Running Club
The evening festivities took place at The Hammersmith Club, where over 150 members gathered to commemorate two decades of running together. Dressed in the club's signature black and white, attendees enjoyed a night of food, drinks, speeches, and dancing.
Speeches: A journey through time
The night began with heartfelt speeches from the club's founder, Charles Craven, followed by other longstanding members Richard Morris, Bob Empson, and Rick Cannon.
Charlie discussed how the club started and its humble beginnings meeting in Bishop's Park. Richard and Bob talked about the growth and evolution over the years – from a small group that met in the park, to a community that has friendships spanning continents. Rick then finished by talking through how this amazing volunteer-led club has been an important part to so many people’s lives.
Raffle prizes: Supporting the club and winning big
A raffle was held to help cover the costs of the party and featured fantastic prizes donated by local businesses. Organised by Richard Morris, the raffle was a success, thanks to the generosity of the club's members and supporters. The full list of prizes and winners are below.
Ticket sales helped subsidise a large portion of the ticket cost, to make the event as accessible to all members of Fulham Running Club as possible.
A huge thank you to our sponsors and suppliers
A special thank you goes out to Michaelides Warner and MG Rehab for sponsoring the cake and pick n mix, respectively.
The Hammersmith Club, Chop & Chip, Crumbs and Doilies, Waterfall Photo Booth, and LA Mixtrax also played crucial roles in making the evening a memorable one.
